Mahjong Connect: Patterns That Sharpen Your Eyes
Mahjong connect games reward one skill above all: structured scanning. Untrained eyes dart around the board; trained eyes sweep it in layers and let the pairs announce themselves.
The three sweeps
- Sweep one — identical twins: hunt exact duplicates first, they are the cheapest pairs on the board.
- Sweep two — edge pairs: tiles on the outer border have the clearest paths; clear them to open the interior.
- Sweep three — blockers: find tiles with four free neighbours and decide whether they help or hunt you.
Train it deliberately
Play one round counting only sweep-one finds. Then a round for sweep-two. Within a few games the sweeps become automatic and your clear time drops sharply. It is the same skill graphicians use to spot differences — pattern exposure, not talent.
Our Mahjong tag has a dozen boards to practise on, each with fresh layouts. Start slow, keep the sweeps honest, and the timer becomes a formality.
